Wonder Where Your Young Homeschoolers Are Headed?
By Irene Taschek
Ever wonder where your young homeschool children are headed? Read about what some of our local highschool students have recently accomplished. All were homeschooled from the start…Home Education – it works!
Institute for Cultural Communications – Local Homeschool Student Wins Big!
Local homeschool teen and Living Water member, Aaron Pomerantz, wins big at the Institute for Cultural Communications Speech and Debate Conference!
Aaron received multiple honors at this Conference. He won 1st place in the Economic and Social Council of the Model United Nations – the best speaker out of 50 competitors! Aaron’s speech on Christian manhood was recognized for its content and originality while his interpretation of the poem “Mulga Bill’s Bicycle” by Banjo Patterson was seen as creative and amusing!

Mock Trial Team – County Champs!
Congrats to the local Homeschool Mock Trial team who now hold the title of County Champs!! What an amazing job these talented students did competing against area high schools over the past week. My family attended the first day of trials to support the team, and we were captivated! We decided we could not miss a trial and ended up back at the court house every night. Hours of hard work and preparation were evident as team members delivered arguments, directs, witness testimonies, objections, cross examinations, and closings COMPLETELY FROM MEMORY! Wow! The students were poised and composed through hours of competition, despite numerous distractions (including the arrival of the Action News camera for the final round vs. Moorestown!) Well done!
A giant thank you to Judi Worgess and her team of coaches for investing in our homeschool teens!
Local Homeschool Teens are Honored at Congressional Breakfast
Congratulations to Jessi Young and John Laberee who were invited to have breakfast at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC where they were each awarded the Bronze and Silver Congressional Medal. They met with local politicians and Paxton Baker, Chairman of the Congressional Award National Board of Directors.
Jessi and John have worked for the past two years for this honor, putting in countless hours of community service, pursuing physical and academic challenges and embarking on an expedition or exploration.
The Congressional Award program is a worthy path to personal development. If you seek more information on how to get involved, check out the website: www.congressionalaward.org.
If you have any questions regarding the program, feel free to contact Rosemary Laberee labereeland@verizon.net or Robin Young cochisecr@aol.com.
